For those of you who don't know or haven't heard a recent update, my niece, Rebecca is going through a storm. She came into contact with E Coli in August and developed diarrhea and vomiting for 6 days. She was admitted into the hospital for re-hydration and her kidneys shut down. They have not worked properly since then. She has been out of the hospital for some time, but she requires outpatient dialysis 3 days a week (each dialysis taking minimum 3 hours). Her doctors have changed her diagnosis from acute renal failure to chronic renal failure. There is still hope that her kidneys will start working. She has been one outstanding patient and even won 'hero of the month' at LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Well, to us, this storm has gone on long enough...but we all know that God has a plan for all of this. But how do you explain that to an 8 year old. She's starting to ask questions like, 'how long is this going to last?', 'why me?'
So if you think about it, say a quick prayer for healing and for wisdom for her parents to know how to answer these hard, but relevant questions. It breaks my heart that she and her family are going through this. I wish that I could be there to help my sister with every day tasks such as caring for her other 2 children, homeschooling her oldest, cook, clean and whatever she needs me to do so she can focus on Rebecca...but I can't. What I can do is be fervant in prayer and ask others to do the same.
