Happy Anniversary!

Today, Jeff & I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary! I am such a lucky woman (i'll try not to be too cheesy, since his friends read this blog and I wouldn't want to embarrass him)...he's the ultimate provider spiritually, emotionally & financially...he's the funniest person I know...he's the most relaxed person I know...he's the best dad...and I'm proud to be his wife!
We are going to celebrate with his favorite breakfast this morning (biscuits & gravy...although, his mom's gravy is better than mine...he still eats it!), spend the day with Joe and then enjoy a fabulous dinner at Reata in Fort Worth while Joe is at his wingman, Chris' house (thanks Peter & Karen..we owe you one!). I love you Jeff...thanks for making me the luckiest girl on earth!

Michigan

Everything was so green and alive in Michigan...so incredibly beautiful!

Joe & I took a trip to Michigan last weekend for a couple of family reunions. For those of you who don't know, my parents both grew up in Michigan, in the same town and their families continue to live in the area. So, since it has been nearly 9 years since Ive been there, we made the trip. I just have a few pictures, but will promise to post more once I receive them from other people. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures since there were plenty of flashes going off...with much better cameras. Overall, we had a fabulous time. We stayed with my Uncle Vern & Auntie Gay at their farm house (one word...beautiful!), which is the same farm house that my mom grew up in. It brought back a lot of memories...and as always, its a great adventure.
Highlights of the trip...
  • Joe slept 3/4 of the plane ride to MI
  • Joe meeting his great grandma for the first time
  • The Fallasburg Park Prefontane 5K (with 2 hills it took me 40 minutes)
  • The Gauw Reunion
  • The Nauta "Rebellion"
  • a stomach virus
  • Joe eating a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie on the plane ride home...sitting next to a child psychologist

Crab Crawling

Obviously, he's not liking the way the grass feels on his knees...

14 months

Joe turned 14 months on Saturday. He's growing sooo fast! He is still not walking by himself, but will gladly walk holding our hands. I'm kind of glad he's not walking on his own, because he won't be a baby anymore. I feel like once they start walking, they look so grown up...and Im not wanting to rush that.
During his 13th month of life, he finally started clapping and waving. He still doesn't wave a whole lot, but at least we know he's capable of doing it. He is clapping all of the time now. Here are a list of other things he's doing...

*eating most foods..they do have do to be finger foods as he won't let us feed him anymore. It's very interesting to watch him eat applesauce or yogurt on his own. He's interested in silverware, but not for eating purposes

*his vocabulary is still "mama", "dadda", "hi" & it sounded like "georgie" this morning

*he has started liking to "read" books on his own...at his own pace

*he loves the water

*his naptime is trickier these days...he really still needs 2 naps/day. He takes a really good morning nap, but he's not tired in the afternoon until its too late to put him down...otherwise he's up all night...so we are having more grouchy times

the above video is something I promised his grammy I would post...his 2 newest tricks...clapping and playing with his lip, while making noises (not sure what its called). yes, he is sitting on his pool upside down...that's how he was rolling this morning.
